Preventive Care

Exams, Xrays and Cleanings

With regular check ups, Dr Emmy will search for signs of dental disease (like cavities and gingivitis) but can also search for risk factors which may lead to dental disease. Preventive dentistry is key to long term oral health. Regular dental visits, x-rays, sealants, cleanings, fluoride, diet, protecting teeth from injury, and home oral hygiene are all integral in preventing more costly dental problems.

Oral health is connected to body health as a whole. This is because the mouth is a breeding ground for harmful bacteria. Maintaining a clean mouth benefits overall health.

Gum Treatments

Scaling root planing and periodontal maintenance

Scaling and root planing: While a regular dental cleaning is for the visible portion of teeth, scaling and root planing is a special cleaning that removes plaque and tartar (also known as calculus) from under the gumline (in periodontal pockets) and smoothes the root surfaces to promote healing. A scaling procedure is the only way to remove calculus from this area. Periodontal maintenance/supportive periodontal therapy: Following a scaling and root planing, specialized deep cleanings can minimize the recurrence or progression of gum disease.

Broken Teeth

For Broken Teeth & Trauma

Dental treatment for a broken tooth depends on the severity of the break. A tooth colored filling is used to fix breaks to the outer part of the tooth (the enamel). A dental filling may also be used for a more serious break involving the enamel and inner layer of the tooth (dentin), but often a dental crown is necessary in these cases.

The most serious breaks are those that damage a tooth’s nerve. These usually require a root canal to remove the damaged nerve and blood vessels.

Toothaches

Treatments for toothaches

We will conduct a complete oral examination to determine the location and cause of the toothache, looking for signs of swelling, redness and obvious tooth damage. We may also take x-rays to look for evidence of tooth decay between teeth, a cracked or impacted tooth or a disorder of the underlying bone.

We may prescribe pain medication or antibiotics to speed the healing of your toothache. If by the time you see us , your tooth has become infected, then treatment could require removal of the tooth or a root canal procedure, which involves removing the damaged nerve tissue from the middle of the tooth.

CT Imaging

3D Conebeam CT Imaging

Dental cone beam computed tomography (CT) is a special type of x-ray machine used in situations where regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient. This type of CT scanner uses a special type of technology to generate three dimensional (3-D) images of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve paths and bone in the craniofacial region in a single scan. Images obtained with cone beam CT allow for more precise treatment planning.

Emergency

Emergency Appointments

What is the best way to take care of dental emergencies? Calmly and quickly! If a dental emergency occurs, try to stay calm and call us as soon as you can.

Trauma to the mouth and teeth may be reduced if action is taken immediately.

Fillings

Fillings, crowns, bridges & veneers

Crowns are synthetic caps, usually made of a material like porcelain, placed on the top of a tooth. Crowns are typically used to restore a tooth’s function and appearance following a restorative procedure such as a root canal. When decay in a tooth has become so advanced that large portions of the tooth must be removed,
crowns are often used to restore the tooth.

Bridges are natural-looking dental appliances that can replace a section of missing teeth. Because they are custom-made, bridges are barely noticeable and can restore the natural contour of teeth as well as the proper bite relationship between upper and lower teeth.

Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain or plastic cemented over the front of your teeth to change their color or shape. Veneers are used on teeth with uneven surfaces or are chipped, discolored, oddly shaped, unevenly spaced or crooked. Little or no anesthesia is needed. Veneers have a longer life expectancy and color stability than bonding, and highly resist permanent staining from coffee, tea
or even cigarette smoking.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening may be all you need to reclaim the younger, brighter smile you have been dreaming about. Always a popular cosmetic treatment, teeth bleaching has become faster, safer, and more effective than ever before.

Implants

Dental implants are really changing the way people live. They are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. Patients with dental implants can smile with confidence.

Dentures

Removable and Implant
Retained Dentures

For missing teeth, we provide dentures and partials to give you the best fit, cosmetic result, function, and speech.
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and adjacent tissues. It is made of acrylic resin, sometimes in combination with various metals.
